Presidents' Day is a pointless holiday. Another day for people to worship the State and for the government's own self-aggrandizement. It's especially troubling since it represents celebrating not only Washington's birthday, but Abraham Lincoln's. I don't understand why we should celebrate the birthday of a president who jailed thousands of dissenters, shut down hundreds of newspapers, deported a Congressman, issued an arrest warrant for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, revoked Habeas Corpus, favored deportation of African Americans to start a colony in Africa, and started a war of aggression against a Southern Confederacy who only wanted to peacefully secede, among other things.
